Brian Davis.....2016 Winter Springs Open Champion

Daytona Beach, FL
Willie Mack III made the best of some outstanding weather conditions firing rounds of 63-68=131 to finish 4 strokes ahead of the field in capturing the 2016 Daytona Beach Open. Randall Hutchison, Kevin Aylwin, and Jared Garcia all finished regulation play at -9 under par for a three way tie for 2nd.

All in all we had 80 players in this years Championship which is very sad given the outstanding treatment we receive from the professional staff at Daytona. Our thanks go out to Brian Jaquet, PGA Director of Golf, Brian Stackpole, PGA Head professional, and their entire crew.

As we look back on the week, a record 30 players withdrew when local media released the weekend weather forecast. Shame on all of them, and shame on the media for such a doom and gloom forecast. We never saw a drop of rain during the Championship. We earn our living in the Outdoors, we play this great game in all kinds of weather, both good and bad. Fair weather golfers normally have very short, unsuccessful careers.

The FPGTour heads to Winter Springs, FL next week for the Winter Springs Open at Tuscawilla Country Club. Those interested should call the office at 407-619-4778 to enter......Sure hope the weather forecast is good
