Binfield wins at Ocala
Wade Binfield of Fayetteville, GA has won the 11th Annual
Ocala Open at Candler Hills Golf Club. His 3-day total of -14 under was good enough for a three stroke margin of victory over runner-up Brad Miller of Timonium, MD who finished at -11 under par. Rounding out the top 5 were Jeff Corr of Apopka, Ryan Gildersleeve of Clearwater, both at -9 under par, and Patrick Sheehan of Oviedo, Chas Narramore of Brentwood, TN, and Richard Schembechler of Massillon, OH.
144 players teed it up in this years Championship, the 36-Hole cut came at even par leaving 48 players to battle it out in the final round.
The Florida Professional Golf Tour wishes to thank On Top of the World and Candler Hills Golf Club for their continued support, along with all the volunteers and staff who make this such a great event.
The FPGTour heads to Daytona again for the 2017 Daytona Beach Open March 25-26.

Wolfe is the Lone Survivor at Crane Lakes
Port Orange, FL
With a somewhat chilly, relentless northeast wind that blew continuously beginning on Friday at the pro-am, and never let up through the completion of Sunday's final round, Jarred Wolfe of Ponte Vedra, FL managed to carve out a 36 hole total of -2 under to win this years Crane Lakes Invitational needing an Eagle 3 on his final hole to edge out Charlie Delsman and Tommy Schaff by one shot. Jarred's 2-day total was the highest winning score on the Florida Professional Golf Tour as far back as we can remember proving one thing.....at 5200 yds with a par of 66, Crane Lakes Golf & Country Club showed it's teeth this weekend proving to everyone this gorgeous course is not for the faint of heart.
As always, the Golf Course was in fantastic shape, and with some help from mother nature, this little Gem held it's own against some of the best players in the country.
Jarred took home $3,525.00 from the $35,000 plus purse which equaled this years Wildwood Open purse. Not bad for another event that carries only a $300 entry.
Thanks again for the generous sponsorship of Crane Lakes who comped the first 100 players course fees to match the 5k donated by our friends at Chic-fil-A of Port Orange, totaling 10K in added money.
The FPGTour heads to Candler Hills and On Top of the World for the 2017 Ocala Open.

Josh Gallman and Daniel Stanley had a first round scramble score of -15 (57) then followed it up with a Rd.2 4-Ball score of -8 (64), while Willie Mack III and Christian Heavens went 57-62. The two teams headed to the par 4 first hole for sudden death where Mack and Heavens both staked their second shots, birdie 3 was all that was needed for the victory. Congratulations to Willie and Christian.
The Florida Professional Golf Tour heads North to Port Orange, FL next weekend for the sold out Crane Lakes Invitational and Pro-Am. PGA of America National Champion Rod Perry is our Host.

J.C. Horne Wins in Wildwood
J.C. Horne of Ormond Beach finished this years Wild Open Championship ( with one of the largest purses on record) at -15 under par in a 3-way tie with Willie Mack III, and Ashton Van Horne. After two trips down the 18th, a birdie 3 by Horne was good enough for the victory and the $3500.00 first place check. Matt Hill of Bradenton, FL was the over night leader after matching the course record of 61 set by Shad Tuten in last years championship, but Matt stumbled a bit in the final round with a 2-under 70 for a T-7 finish.
Horne opened the Championship with a solid -6 under par 66 and closed with 63 to match match Willie Mack III's score for score while Van Horne shot 64-65.
Thanks go out to the membership of Continental Country Club for their gracious contribution of $5000 to this years purse and also a special shout out to Aubrey Cunningham-Hendershot, my beautiful daughter-in-law, and FPGTour VP who also matched that $5000 donation making this one of the largest purses ever on the FPGTour for an event with only a $300 entry fee. So the next time you guys take the time to play Continental Country Club, remember to say thanks, or at least drop them a thank you card, and for heavens sake, please say thank you to Aubrey, who's pretty face is at the registration table every event you play in. I think they both deserve it......
